Nothing Godly or Kingly in Exodus: Gods and Kings

Image
2.5 stars | Action-fantasy | PG-13 | 144 min. Cast: Christian Bale, Joel Edgerton, John Turturro, Aaron Paul, Ben Mendelsohn, Sigourney Weaver, Ben Kingsley, Maria Valverde, Dar Salim, Golshifteh Farahani, Indira Varma, Hiam Abbass, Tara Fitzgerald and Isaac Andrews. My opinion : Ridley Scott is the man behind movies like Gladiator (2000), Robin Hood (2010) and now Exodus: Gods and Kings . After watching the movie, all I can say is the latest venture of this popular filmmaker has failed to impress me. This is probably the worst film made by the ace director. A biblical plot Plot : Moses (Bale), a commander and Ramses ( Edgerton ), his son are both loyal to the Egyptian Pharaoh, Seti ( Turturro). A prediction is foretold that the savior of the king in the battle will also revolt against the Pharaoh of Egypt. The happens but it is overlooked by the Seti. Immediately after the war, Moses goes to the Hebrew colony of slaves and discovers his Hebrew origin fr...

Bilbo: My old ring. I should very much like to hold it again, one last time.                                                                    --- LOTR I couldn’t help but notice the similarity of this desire of holding the ring and that of the lost love. Those who are heartbroken and betrayed, wish to hold their lost love in their arm again, one last time. They get stuck with this idea. What they fail to realize is that the past is already gone. Every moment spent thinking about the past will actually worsen the present and the future.

Man of steel "explosive", but not beautiful…

Image
Yesterday I did get a chance to see Man of Steel . I must say I am not disappointed. There is nothing wrong in the movie. Acting was good by all the actors, action scenes are terrific and breathtaking and the score was fantastic, but it lacks the magic touch of the directors like James Cameron or Peter Jackson. Zack Synder does a commendable job in making this movie. Without getting much into the plot, I would just like to state the things I liked about this movie. The opening scene is great and Krypton was shown beautifully. But the story telling is so fast, it hardly gives you time to breathe. Everything moves with a fast pace. The father-son relationship between Henry Cavill and Kevin Costner is nicely depicted and are probably the only scenes which capture the emotions of the movie. In the early part of becoming Superman, Henry travels a lot to find about out his origin. After finding his origin, he finally decides to take his responsibility as a superhero to the people of Earth...

The Desolation of Smaug leaves us wanting more

Image
The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug When I finished watching The Desolation of Smaug in my nearest theater, I didn’t how the time of more two and half hours flew by. This is the beauty of directors like Peter Jackson or James Cameron – you will get immersed in their world. The desolation of Smaug is nothing less than a visual spectacle. Right from the beginning to a breath-taking end, every scene is amazingly shot. The cinematography, performance of various characters, story telling in this movie is too good. The story starts from where it was left in the first part and gains pace in a short time. Gandalf again separates from the group of dwarves, and this time he has a far more specific motive. He is the witness of the great evil which rises in front of his eyes, which later becomes the protagonist of The Lord of the Rings trilogy. The dwarves, on the other hand, are foolish but heroic, always getting trapped or losing hope on many occasions, to be only saved by our tiny ...

Interstellar - A must watch for everyone

Image
Interstellar is a movie which makes you to think the future and ponder about the vast possibility of space travel. But more than that it makes you wonder what a genius Christopher Nolan is. I have the opportunity to watch Interstellar in IMAX and I am amazed. Forget about acting, visual effects, creativity, cinematography - the storytelling is so good that you will get immersed in the experience for the whole time the movie runs. And all the things I have told you to forget about, eventually will grab your attention after coming out of the theater. All the things fits so nicely that there is no scope for complain, no wanting more. I think this is the first movie where the actual black hole (how a star is crushed by gravity), traveling in a wormhole and idea of going beyond the horizon is depicted. Watching all these scenes will leave you awestruck, same goes for the human emotions showed in the movie. The music greatly compliments every scene. Nolan has the habi...
